Tearfund is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager in Nigeria.

 

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Hours: Full time; 40hrs/week

Contract length: 1 Year

 

  • Do you have experience in coordinating fundraising efforts to maximize outreach and help organizations achieve their financial goals? have you developed, managed and executed fundraising strategies that brought in donations from various sources for organizations. 
  • Do you have in-depth knowledge in identifying and interacting with potential donors through connection strategies ranging from fundraising events to crowdsourcing campaigns to public relations. 
  • Are you a highly skilled and talented individual, with a high level understanding of relief and development business.
  • Do you have experience in  branding, marketing and donor outward facing communication, developing goals for the business development unit and fostering growth, ensuring they are met and overseeing new acquisitions, bids, contracts and pitches. 
  • Do you have successful records in developing quality concept notes, proposals and budgets for submission to donors? How about grant management such as Grant opening meetings, Grant review meetings, Grant closure meetings, donor compliance on grants  and program Cycle meetings in a timely fashion.
  • Have you identified, developed and won bids to financially resource the implementation of organization's strategy.
  • Do you have proven experience in International NGOs with similar position: proposal development (narrative and budgets) and donor reporting.
  • Do you have experience with key Institutional Donors including DFID/FCDO, USAID, ECHO, EU, UN Agencies and multilateral donor mechanisms.
  • Do you have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business development or management or other related course(s).  Then we would love to hear from you!

This is a local national package, applicants should have permission to work in Nigeria.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will work with the Country Director to lead the country programme funding portfolio growth and delivery of the country funding strategy. He/She will work closely with the Country Director and the Program team to ensure the Country Strategy has a viable business model and an accompanying Business Development Strategy. He/she will lead on branding, marketing and donor outward facing communication and liaise internally for production of tools, literature and information for donors and other project stakeholders in collaboration with the Program Director. The post holder will research organisations and individuals to find new opportunities and increase the value of current donors while attracting new ones, he'she will coordinate with the programme and finance team to develop quality concept notes, proposals and budgets for submission to donors as required and lots more.



The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in development studies, humanitarian affairs, programme development and Business Management, marketing or other relevant course. A master's degree is desirable. 
  • Evidence of further relevance study and learning – particularly in regards supporting learning, systems thinking, process management and development and measurement.
  • Proven ability to develop winning , large scale proposals for public and/or private sector donors.
  • Experience with key Institutional Donors including DFID/FCDO, USAID, ECHO, EU, UN Agencies and multilateral donor mechanisms. 
  • Proven experience working in consortia arrangement.
  • Sound understanding of Program Cycle Management in emergencies and development environments, program quality and partnership management.
  • A Minimum of 3 years of experience in programme development, resource mobilisation, donor relations, marketing and communication
  • Experience in designing integrated programmes especially on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus approach. 
  • Experience in conveying stories and case studies to external audiences in an appropriate and timely manner. 
  • Experience in strategic planning 
  • Experience in capacity-building in a coaching and accompaniment model.

  • Proactive and able to suggest solutions to challenges. 
  • Ability to develop quality, realistic budgets in line with organisational policies and client requirements. 
  • Ability to work with diverse teams in a fast paced environment under pressure and deliver quality results. 
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and working in the Cloud.

Salary Range : 19million - 21million Naira gross per annum.
