Church and Community Transformation Officer- Chad

Tearfund is looking for a dynamic individual to fill the position of Church and Community Transformation Officer in Chad to provide programmatic and project management support to the in-country Tearfund staff, partners and church denominations to promote and implement integral mission (IM) using Church and Community Transformation Process (CCTP) as a tool. He/ must ensure that Church leaders are envisioned  , trainers and facilitators trained, local churches are mobilised,  and CCTP related projects are identified, designed, implemented, monitored, evaluated and reported in accordance with Tearfund's Church and Community Transformation focus and key indicators.  Other key responsibilities include: 

  • Assist the Country team in developing the country strategy 
  • Design in collaboration with the in-country team, the Church and Community Transformation Process (CCTP) scaling up strategy and plans, and ensure their smooth implementation 
  • Envisioning Church & peer agencies leaders so they adopt and support the implementation of CCTP in their respective denominations/organisations 
  • Develop and implementation successfully annual training plans 
  •  
  • Support the design of new integral mission projects and associated programme implementation plans / budgets. 
  • Assist in communicating Tearfund local church vision, and help translate the country programme integral mission strategic goals and objectives to and among local partners and stakeholders 
  • Provide leadership and innovation in the implementation of Tearfund supported church and community mobilisation projects. 
  • Facilitate local partners' engagement with the local church and facilitate prayer and integral mission as the key vocation of the local church. 
  • Facilitate the effective implementation of CCTP by local partners, technical partners and church networks through training, supporting project interpretation, work planning, strategy designing, target setting, work plan monitoring and implementation and joint reviews. Facilitate technical training, technical exchange, informal and formal learning exchanges on and development of CCTP among Tearfund partners and the church in Chad. 

Church Mobilisation and Planning 

  • Mobilisation of local churches and church networks in developing robust integral mission strategies with a major focus on CCT 
  • Support in the design and implementation of relevant CCTP models for local churches. 
  • Mobilise church prayer networks working with existing church networks and building key prayer agendas on integral mission work using the LHOP model 
  • Generate local church work that can be linked for North to south partnerships 
  • Promote church leadership trainings and conferences where necessary, where integral mission will be a key focus issue 
  • In collaboration with Program Support Manager, to undertake detailed analysis and design appropriate project interventions to meet identified needs and strengthen local partners' capacities and engagement of the local churches 
  • Building bridges between the partners' project needs and situation in the project areas, making detailed reports with recommendations to the partner management regarding community needs, vulnerabilities / capacities and appropriate responses. 
  • Facilitate the management and implementation of project interventions to achieve material and spiritual transformational impacts through continuous monitoring and reviews in accordance with Tearfund and donor requirements. 
  • Promote Restore Saving Groups with Church networks

This role will be based in Ndjamena with extensive travel within Chad.  Experience of working within insecure environments would be required.
