We are looking for an experienced Finance & Operations Officer to join the Eurasia and North Africa team, with an initial focus on supporting our programmes in South Iraq. The Finance & Operations Officer will provide finance, operational, administrative, and coordination support to Tearfund's programming in Iraq, under the line management of the Iraq Finance Manager.

Do you have strong finance, operations, and administrative skills, with the ability to work independently and build effective relationships with different stakeholders? The successful candidate will have:

Experience & Qualifications

  • A degree and/or equivalent qualification in Finance, Admin, or Logistics
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role within an INGO
  • Experience in accounting, treasury management, cashbooks, petty cash, and payroll
  • Experience working with finance, admin, and HR policies and procedures
  • Experience in procurement and logistics functions
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders at different levels, including government authorities
  • Experience in security awareness, risk analysis, and recommending appropriate actions
  • Good experience using software and online systems

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, databases, and advanced Excel
  • Fluent in spoken and written Arabic
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Understanding and sensitivity to cross-cultural environments
  • Flexible and adaptable in changing environments
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Integrity and ability to represent Tearfund professionally

Note: This role will be based in Basra, Iraq. Applicants must possess a valid passport/visa stating the right to live and work in Iraq. 

The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding issues. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
