Programme Manager, Mozambique

Tearfund is seeking to recruit a Programme Manager in the Mozambique Country Office.


As part of the senior leadership team, the Programme Manager is to be based close to our field operational areas and responsible for managing the programmes and field based operations for Tearfund in Mozambique. He/she will assist the Country Director in the leadership and management of Tearfund's project work and a portfolio of partners, ensuring the effective design, assessment, resourcing and monitoring of projects in support of the delivery of Tearfund's Mozambique country strategy whilst ensuring that projects reflect Tearfund Quality Standard commitments. The Programme Manager has responsibility for field's compliance with Tearfund's Logistics policies and procedures, compliance with donor guidelines and regulations and providing support on Grant Management, internal and donor reporting. 

Additionally, the programme Manager will be committed to Tearfund's Mission, Values and Beliefs statement and to be actively working and living in accordance with Tearfund's Christian beliefs and theology of mission.

The successful candidate will provide systematic support to Tearfund in Mozambique partners to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and compliance with Tearfund policies and procedures.

Do you have?

  • Relevant senior level field management experiences in a multi- sector, multi-funded relief and development programmes 
  •  Proven strategic planning and emergency programme and project management experience in both development and humanitarian environments. 
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and thinking. 
  • Proven application of good practice standards: SPHERE, Core Humanitarian Standard and Red Cross Codes of Conduct. 
  • Donor relationship and grant management 
  • Significant proven ability in project cycle management and evaluation, and in budget development and management. 
  • Implementing and working in accordance with corporate structures, policies and practices.
  • Oral and written proficiency in Portuguese and English;
  • Ability to gain respect of CEOs of partner organisations, institutional donors and government representatives; 
  • Ability to work with children and vulnerable adults in an appropriate and safe manner in accordance with Tearfund Safeguarding Policy;

Please note: This is a fixed term contract of 1 Year based in Pemba City, Cabo Delgado Province -  Mozambique, with a possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will be offered an Annual Basic Salary of 3,958,226 MZN Per Annum.

Tearfund is a UK based, Christian INGO working in 50 countries around the world, to lift people out of poverty, using local partners and churches wherever possible.
