Programme Officer - Syria

We are looking for a Programme officer to join our team in Syria. The Programme Officer will provide essential partner liaison and programmatic support for Tearfund's operations in Syria. The role ensures all interventions are strictly aligned with the Syria Country Strategy, Country Operational Plan, specific pillars of Humanitarian Response and Development and Church and Community Transformation (CCT) programming.

The Programme Officer is responsible for ensuring rigorous compliance with both Tearfund and donor's standards. Key areas of focus include: Partnership support, Project support, Administration, Compliance and Communications.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree in social work, psychology, international relations, development and humanitarian studies or related degree
  • Good professional experience (minimum 03 years) in programme implementation and cycle specifically in working with partners in the Middle East involved in humanitarian work or similar project management experience.
  • Experience of supporting in safeguarding in development and emergency contexts
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks 
  • Able to take initiative and be willing to adjust with situation
  • Computer literate – experience of Word, Excel and Google Chrome
  • Able to work in fast moving environment and comfortable with constant change 
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic
  • Willingness to travel and stay in basic conditions.

The position is based in Aleppo, Syria and requires frequent travel to various field locations within the region. We can only accept applications from candidates who have the legal right to live and work in Syria and are based in Aleppo.

The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding issues. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
