Project Administrative Assistant-Iraq

Tearfund is looking for a Project Administrative Assistant to join our dedicated Iraq team. They will have an initial focus on supporting our programme in South Iraq.
The Project Administrative Assistant will work under the line management of the Project Coordinator and work closely with four local partners in Basrah and Dhi Qar to provide administrative and operational support for effective project cycle management and overall office operations. A primary focus will be to ensure that the administrative systems and processes run smoothly to support programmatic development, resource mobilisation, and project implementation. The Project Administrative Assistant will be responsible for managing office resources, supporting financial and logistical arrangements, and coordinating with team members to ensure adherence to organisational policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree or equivalent in business administration, office management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in office administration or project support, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Experience working in an administrative capacity with institutional donors such a GIZ
- Experience in organising and supporting logistical and administrative processes for projects.
- Proven experience in maintaining accurate documentation, records management, and compliance with organisational procedures.
- Familiarity with administrative processes in project management, including budget tracking and reporting.
- Experience supporting multi-disciplinary teams and working within organisational policies and practices.
Also the ideal candidate should have:
- Fluent in spoken and written English; good spoken and written Arabic.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Mail, Excel, and Word).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and initiative in addressing challenges.
Please note: This role will be based in Basrah, Iraq. Applicants must possess a valid passport/visa stating the right to live and work in Iraq.
Role is subject to funding availability.
