Protection and Gender Equality (PGE) Coordinator - Ethiopia
The Protection and Gender Equality (PGE) Coordinator drives the integration of gender-transformative and protection-sensitive approaches across all programming.
This role provides technical leadership on PGE and protection mainstreaming throughout the entire project cycle, ensuring marginalized groups like women, youth, are central to program design and benefit equitably. In addition, given Tearfund's specific thematic priorities, the Coordinator serves as the direct technical lead for our standalone projects focused on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and psychosocial support, guiding their implementation to meet the highest quality standards.
Do you have a Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent qualification in?
- Sociology, psychology, gender studies, social work, development studies or related disciplines
- Relevant post-graduate qualification
Do you have previous Experience
- Expertise in Protection and Gender Equality, child protection, gender-based violence, and psychosocial support is essential.
- At least 6 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, social inclusion, child protection, psychosocial support, advocacy, in INGO settings with 3 years' experience as a Coordinator.
- Detailed understanding of humanitarian principles and practices
- Experience in managing protection programs in complex emergencies
Do you have the below skills/Abilities required?
- Knowledge of Project management, including project design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Significant experience in PGE training, capacity building and mentoring.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated management and coordination skills, including the ability to plan and meet deadlines
- A strong understanding of gender equality and responsive behaviors in all professional interactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate organizational goals and project objectives.
- Good command of spoken and written English and Amharic language communication skills.
