DMEAL Officer (SWEEP) - Nigeria

Tearfund is an international relief and development agency working globally to end poverty and injustice, and to restore dignity and hope in some of the world's poorest communities.

 

Tearfund Nigeria is implementing the Strengthening Women Economic Empowerment (SWEE) project with Transforming Masculinities funded by Innovate UK. This project seeks to assess the impact and effectiveness of Tearfund's Transforming Masculinities intervention adapted to include outcomes on improved family wellbeing, and greater empowerment for women including and promoting social cohesion along with its standard focus on reducing gender-based violence. This is a 3-year project, and the focus is on the implementation of these activities in 50 Mosques and 50 Churches in South West Nigeria (Oyo, Osun and Ogun.)

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with proven DMEAL experience to join our operational SWEEP project in Tearfund Nigeria. Details are as follows:

 

Job title: Design, Monitoring and Evaluation for Accountability and Learning (DMEAL) Officer (SWEEP)

 

Salary: NGN 10,157,784.00 (Gross per annum)

 

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria

 

Hours:  Full time; 40hrs/week

 

Contract length: 1 year

 

This is a local national package; applicants should have permission to work in Nigeria.

 

The SWEEP project DMEAL Officer will be responsible for supporting and advising on the design, monitoring, evaluation plan and the implementation of SWEEP project in Nigeria. 

The post holder will assist to formulate DMEAL plans in line with the Country Strategies and GBV programmes. S/he will work closely with the Tearfund West AfricaDME Advisor at the regional level to roll out the consortium DMEAL requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring that effective DMEAL systems are in place for accountability and learning, to ensure that the Nigeria Core Group INGOs and their partners can be responsive to context and be agile to respond to best practice and lessons learnt within the SWEEP project and SGBV programme at large. S/he will provide technical guidance and coordinate the design, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (DMEAL) of the SWEEP project.

 

The successful candidate will have:

  • BSc/BA or equivalent qualification in Gender Studies, Economics, Business Management, Peacebuilding, Development, International Relations, Sociology, or other relevant courses. A master's degree in the related field will be an advantage.
  • 3 years of experience in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation or other learning efforts is required. Proven experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of SGBV projects.
  • International NGO field experience in a similar position: programme support, development, fundraising or M&E. Experience working with local communities.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and operating M&E systems within the Project Cycle Management (including logframe development and theories of change). Working with SPHERE Standards and CHS.
  • At least 3 years of experience in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation or other learning efforts is required.
  • International NGO field experience in a similar position: programme support, development, fundraising or M&E.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and operating M&E systems within the Project Cycle Management (including logframe development and theories of change).
  • Proven experience in Knowledge Management and Institutional Learning initiatives.
  • Experience in Project Cycle Management (including logframe development and M&E).
  • Experience in capacity building/ training. Working under pressure and remote environment
  • Experience in conveying stories and case studies to external audiences in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Experience gathering visual material for communications. Experience in the use of GIS for M&E
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Experience in the use of an M&E database software will be essential
  • Experience of networking
  • Experience with institutional funders
  • Experience using electronic data gathering tools (Kobo, Nvivo, Atlas, etc.)

Additionally the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate advanced skills in Photography and Videography, knowledge of digital data gathering and analysis. Also Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint and Outlook skills.

S/he will have ability to work cross-culturally and possess excellent written and verbal English with working knowledge of local languages (Yoruba).
