Tearfund is an international relief and development agency working globally to end poverty and injustice, and to restore dignity and hope in some of the world's poorest communities.

 

Tearfund Nigeria is implementing the Strengthening Women Economic Empowerment (SWEE) project with Transforming Masculinities funded by Innovate UK. This project seeks to assess the impact and effectiveness of Tearfund's Transforming Masculinities intervention adapted to include outcomes on improved family wellbeing, and greater empowerment for women including and promoting social cohesion along with its standard focus on reducing gender-based violence. This is a 3-year project, and the focus is on the implementation of these activities in 50 Mosques and 50 Churches in South West Nigeria (Oyo, Osun and Ogun.)

 

Tearfund Nigeria is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual in project management to fill the following position:

 

Job title: Project Officer (SWEEP)

 

Salary: NGN 9,362,013.00 (Gross per annum)

 

Location: Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria

 

Hours: Full time; 40hrs/week

 

Contract length: 1 year

 

This is a local national package; applicants should have permission to work in Nigeria.

 

The SWEEP project Officer will work with the SWEEP Project Manager in implementing the Project on Strengthening Women Economic Empowerment Project (SWEEP) to ensure programmatic and financial integrity of the project including achievement of the project goals, objectives and outcomes.

 

The post holder will support in technical planning supervision and monitoring of field activities of SWEEP project. S/he will Maintain, monitor and measure the SWEEP project implementation and contribute to effective information management on community dialogues and diffusion activities to ensure adherence SOPs. The role is responsible for Participating in the monthly planning meetings to ensure effective implementation of the project, ensures project monitoring at the community level, and participate in the Technical Advisory Group meeting.

 

 

 

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Postgraduate qualification in related field or equivalent knowledge will be an added advantage
  • Proven  evidence of involvement in development related activities in Nigeria
  • Proven evidence of involvement in supporting the development of and implementing environmentally sustainable development projects
  • Proven evidence in programming around projects on SGBV
  • Experience of public speaking
  • Experience working in coalitions, networks or social movements
  • Ability to apply biblical principles to topical issues
  • Proven evidence of involvement in project management
  • People management experience
  • Experience in working with local NGOs/FBOs
  • A good understanding of Christian relief, development and environmental issues
  • Experience of networking and influencing with churches, NGOs, academics, policy makers.

 

Additionally the successful candidate will be able to think and plan strategically, facilitate training, workshops, meetings and mentor and coach others. Ability to network and gain respect of leaders of partner organisations to mobilise churches.

S/he will have ability to work cross-culturally, possess excellent written and verbal English with working knowledge of local languages (Yoruba), collate, analyse and report data in a clear and coherent manner. The Applicant should possess negotiation, representation

Analytical, problem solving, Networking and Facilitation skills with Strong IT ability.
